Screwdriver CNC Project

Screwdriver CNC Project

In this project, I created a screwdriver. I first started with stock material which for this project I used which was a block of aluminum. I then designed what I wanted my screwdriver to look like in SolidWorks. After this, I converted my .SLDPRT file into a G-code file which consists of instructions that a CNC lathe uses to know where and how to cut a part out which allowed for me to get the desired screwdriver shape.

The final product can be found below!

The CNC lathe created internal threads for the cap of the screwdriver and external threads at the end of the screwdriver to allow for the cap to be screwed on. After using the lathe I then added a hole to the back of the screwdriver, using a manual hole drilling machine, to serve as a storage unit for different bits which was very practical and allowed for me to not lose the screwdriver bits.

The internal and external threads and drilling hole are visible in the images below!
